GDI is a social and educational group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans (LGBT) and allied doctors and medical students in Ireland.
On behalf of Gay Doctors Ireland, welcome to our website.
Our members include hospital consultants, GPs, junior doctors, and students, in Ireland and further afield. As a grassroots organisation, we seek to maintain links with hospitals and practitioners in all regions.
Our aims are simple:
- to support and mentor lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) doctors and medical students- to combat discrimination and advocate for equality
- to provide education on LGBT issues in medicine and society
- to promote awareness of LGBT health among the medical community
- to facilitate LGBT-related health research
- to encourage networking and collaboration with the IMO, ICGP, and other professional bodies
- to work with other LGBT groups to achieve equality for all
